The time of year that all kids look forward to is finally here! School is out, and it’s time for kids to enjoy their summer. The Upper West Side and Riverside Park host many fun activities for kids throughout the summer, as well as provide some great summer camps.
Every Thursday in July and August at Pier 70, children can enjoy the performance series with music, storytelling, and theater for all young ages, with a different theme each week. If you are interested in introducing your kids to beginner sports, tots soccer and pee wee basketball, all of it can be found at Riverside Park every Wednesday. For those looking to improve their skateboarding skills, the Riverside Park Skate Clinic offers lessons from John Fudala for children ages 5-13.
The Upper West Side offers many great summer camps for children of all ages that are close to home. Some include the West Side YMCA, American Museum of Natural History, Oasis in Central Park, and many more. In addition, Riverside Park Conservancy has partnered with longtime camp providers to offer a weekly, low-cost, multi-sport summer camp in Riverside Park for children ages 4-16 – they’ve got it all!
If that isn’t enough – Riverside Park is filled with multiple animated playgrounds, like Hippo, Elephant, River Run, and Dinosaur Playground. These unique playgrounds make for a great family fun activity on a beautiful summer day!
